Holiday or vacation?

Are you excited about your holiday or vacation? What is the difference between the two words anyway?

'Holiday' is the UK word for the Dutch word 'vakatie'. USA use the word 'vacation' so it's your own preference. Either way, the weather is getting warmer and it's time to book your holiday if you haven't already.

Now is also a good time to start thinking about your English skills too. You might not be going to an English speaking country, but English is very useful when you're travelling.

Just a quick quiz: what is the difference between camping, camper and campsite? My Dutch students often get confused between these words. If you don't know, then look them up online, or book a few English lessons to get more familiar with holiday lingo!
